Starting Fall 2007, our group at UCLA Electrical Engineering will behiring a postdoctoral scholar.
Our research group focuses on photonics and its applications to nano-and bio-technology.
Some of the key research topics in our group include:
(1) Imaging the nano-world, especially in bio-compatible settings;
(2) Providing solutions to global health related problems such asmeasurement of the cell count of HIV patients in resource limited settings;
(3) Rapid and parallel detection of hundreds of thousands of molecularlevel binding events targeting microarray based proteomics and genomics;
(4) Monitoring of the biological state of 3D engineered tissues.
For the postdoctoral candidate, prior experience on Near-field ScanningOptical Microscopy is a big plus. Furthermore, experience on FIB, E-beamlithography, and other basic nanofabrication equipment is highly desiredfor the postdoc candidate. The project will involve frequent use offinite-difference time-domain (FDTD) modeling, and will also requirenano-fabrication and optical testing of the designed system to becompared with the FDTD modeling results. Therefore, the candidate shouldbe good at both experimental and mathematical concepts.
