Institution:
UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School
Position:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in ion channel physiology
Job Description:
We are seeking a self-motivated, highly committed individual with a PhD, and/or MD degree or equivalent to join an NIH funded research group to study the regulation of Transient Receptor Potential (TRP) ion channels. The laboratory’s current focus is TRPM8 (Nature Neurosci, 2005, 8:626-634), TRPV1 (J. Neuroscience 2007, 27:7070-7080) and TRPV6 channels (JBC under revision). We are interested in both the mechanistic regulation of these channels and their roles in biological processes such as pain and temperature sensation and epithelial Ca2+ absorption. The successful applicant will apply state-of-the-art molecular, electrophysiological and fluorescence based tools to investigate the regulation of TRP channels. The applicant is expected to have the strong desire to understand basic science, and to perform mechanistic studies. The position requires experience in mammalian cell electrophysiology (patch clamp). Experience in Ca2+ imaging and/or molecular biology are also appreciated. Experience in dorsal root and/or trigeminal ganglion cell preparation is also very welcome.
