In a neuroscientifically oriented work group being set up in the BfArM authorisation unit “Zulassung 4” (4), the following position limited for a period of 3 years is vacant for immediate employment:

Wissenschaftliche/r Angestellte/r Scientific employee (“Postdoc”)
- Salary bracket (Entgeltgruppe) 14 TVöD -

For candidates with a completed medical specialisation (Fachärztin/Facharzt), extra money will be paid to compensate for the difference between salary brackets 14 and 15 TVöD.

Job description:
- Analysis of the role of various voltage-gate Ca2+ channels in the hippocampal theta-rhythmogenesis in transgenic mouse models
- Analysis of the significance of theta-oscillations in the context of dementia and the impact of voltage-gated Ca2+ channels under pathophysiological conditions
- Experimental interaction with the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen, DZNE) in Bonn

Job requirements:
- Graduation in human or veterinary medicine (including practising licence); in pharmacy or biology
- Knowledge and experience in animal experimentation/small animal surgery (desirable: experience in implantable EEG radiotelemetry, pharmacological injection experiments, CNS microdialysis and stereotaxis in rodents)
- Experience in analysing superficial and deep EEG recordings in rodents
- Knowledge of other electrophysiological methods desirable (e. g. patch-clamp, multi-electrode array (MEA))
- Skills in scientific data acquisition, data analysis, data presentation in written and verbal form
- Very good command of spoken and written English
- Knowledge and experience in using information and analysis software (MS Office programmes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; internet; data bases; recent methods of data communication, Prism, Origin, Sigma Plot etc.)
- Desirable: doctor’s degree
- Highly appreciated: capacity for teamwork, social competence, ability to work under pressure, efficient in organisation, interdisciplinary cooperation
- Supervision of a doctoral candidate and a technical assistant in the work group
