The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.WEIKUAN GU. The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr. WEIKUAN GU. Postdoctoral position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Tennessee Health Science Center Memphis is available to study the molecular mechanisms alcoholism with an emphasis on gene discovery and networking. Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an appropriate field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Statistical Genetics, Genetics, Genomics) or related fields with less than 3 years postdoctoral training.The position requires experience with applying genomic approaches to analyze high-throughput and large-scale datasets including DNA sequences (e.g., next-generation sequencing platforms), whole genome gene expression, or other genotypic data. The post-doctoral fellow will have a strong interest in: alcoholism and/or musculoskeletal, gene expression analysis or the effects of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions on phenotype. In addition, this individual should have molecular biology experience particularly with miRNA, real-time PCR, and protein assay. The position will be in Dr. Gu''s laboratory.
