The TIPharma project entitled:’ Validation of the use of fMRI as an objective measure of pain in patients with and without psychiatric comorbidities’ stems from a collaboration between the industrial partners PRA International and Schering-Plough, various Departments of the University Medical Center in Groningen and the dutch government via Top Institute Pharma.
The interdisciplinary research project aims to use fMRI to achieve more objective measures of the pain state of subjects, in order to guide future drug development by quantifying their analgesic properties. In addition, the project aims to separate brain activations primarily associated with pain from those associated with anxiety and depression. The Postdoctoral candidate will have a solid background in functional imaging, be enthusiastic, autonomous, dedicated and will have excellent communication skills and a very good knowledge of English.
