Description
A postdoctoral position is available immediately on a newly funded3-year project to develop and apply portable, rapid,nanotechnology-based genetic probes for the detection of invasiveaquatic organisms. The postdoc must have expertise in moleculargenetics/genomics, particular DNA and/or RNA hybridization techniques,that will bridge the expertise of the University of Notre Dame engineersand biologists who collaborate on the project.
The postdoc will also lead the project’s coordination with: Canadiangovernment agencies on planning sampling of ballast water from GreatLakes ships; a collaborator in Germany on analysis and experiments onballast water samples; and collaborators in the US EPA.
Screening will begin as applications are received, and continue untilthe position is filled. Desired start date for the position is early 2008.
