Description
A senior postdoctoral position is available to pursue dermal/epidermal regeneration by tissue engineering with particular emphasis on gene therapy, gene delivery, and stem cells. Potential projects include developing new strategies to cover large defects and/or attenuate the hypertrophic scarring response using new therapies that integrate the use of stem cells, biomatrices, and gene therapy. Successful applicants will work in a well-funded lab that is located at the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Shriners Burns Hospital in Galveston, Texas. The lab focuses on translational research with particular emphasis on wound healing, inflammation, hypertrophic and keloid scarring.
Requirements: Motivated applicants with a PhD in cellular and molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field are encouraged to apply. The ideal applicant will be able to work independently, supervise others in the lab, and be highly skilled in lab techniques. Proficiency in cell culture, protein analysis, assay development, and wound healing are desired. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
