Salary

The remuneration package will be in the range AUD$68,601 – $73,639 p.a., including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment to 31 December 2009 at Academic level A.

Description

The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) has recently commercialised award-winning Pepfactants? technology to reversibly and precisely controlling the stability of foams and emulsions. The current position has been created to lead studies into the behaviour of Pepfactants? in microfluidic systems, with a focus on exploring new drug-delivery and diagnostic technologies. The appointee will work directly with the inventors of Pepfactants? technology – ARC Federation Fellow Professor Anton Middelberg and Dr Annette Dexter.

The role: The appointee will become a key team member responsible for the design of microfluidic chips, data collection and mathematical modelling of Pefactant? behaviour in microfluidic systems.

The person: Applicants should possess a PhD in Science or Engineering, preferably with experience in the analysis, design and fabrication of custom microfluidic chips. Candidates should be highly motivated and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while providing leadership to research assistants and postgraduate students.
