Job Description:

The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to be involved in both clinical and basic science research. This individual will manage pharmaceutical research studies involving human subjects. Duties will include collecting patient data, maintaining data files, computer analysis and participating in the creation and submission of scientific publications. Applicants should have a strong interest in clinical research and anesthesiology with emphasis on pain syndromes, particularly related to the genitourinary tract. Projects related to hypothermia in the perioperative setting will also be addressed and once again the candidate should be familiar with related issues.

The patient population in Miami is very diverse. We are seeking someone with excellent English and Spanish communication skills to deal with our heterogeneous population. Additionally applicants will deal with numerous research sites located in other parts of the US and, most likely, in foreign countries, particularly in South America. A strong working knowledge of the health systems in Latin America will also prove useful.

Minimum qualifications include M.D. degree or be a candidate for such with an expected completion date before the start of training appointment. Candidates should have experience with patients in the post-operative period. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of all aspects of basic medicine and patient care. An appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
