The current BME of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University team has beendevelope******** on the Jockey Club Rehabilitation Engineering Center(REC) which was establishe******** 1987 with a Jockey Club endowmentan******** the 1st ever BME-relate******** unit in Hong Kong. Because ofour long history an******** contribution to Rehabilitation Eng********we are recognize******** locally an******** as a leader inRehabilitation Engineering. In 2005, REC was merge******** the MedicalLaboratory Science an******** disciplines to form the Department ofHealth Technology & Informatics under the Faculty of Healthan******** Sciences. In line with the international practice that BMEprogrammes are usually classifie******** engineering disciplinean******** University strategic development in BME, theInterdisciplinary Division of Biomedical Engineering was formallyestablishe******** 1 April 2012 in the Faculty of Engineering.
