The position:
This Fellowship presents an excellent opportunity for a talented scientist to make a major contribution and develop a career in applied chemistry while working on new technology for the removal of organic impurities from industrial process liquors.

Location: Waterford (Perth) Western Australia
Salary: AUD73K to AUD80K plus up to 15.4% Superannuation

The Fellow will use sophisticated electrochemical facilities available in CSIRO Process Science and Engineering to study the electrochemistry of organic redox reactions at high temperature and pressure in strongly alkaline solutions. This knowledge will then be applied to a number of industrially important problems, in particular the electrochemistry of Bayer process liquors. This is an area of knowledge which has not to date been well developed and in which there is the opportunity for a major contribution to the mineral processing and electrochemistry literature.

To be considered you will hold a PhD (or will shortly satisfy the requirements for a PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline, and have:

practical experience in and theoretical knowledge of the field of electrochemistry;
sound knowledge and research experience in the use of diverse electrochemical instrumentation and techniques;
an ability to contribute new ideas to a research project;
excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
an ability to work effectively as part of a research team.
