Postdoctoral Research Associate-Obesity and Body Weight Regulation, Nutrition Research Institute
Location: Kannapolis, NC

Postdoctoral research associate wanted to help develop a research program in nutrigenomics of obesity/energy expenditure and the molecular mechanisms of body weight regulation with a focus on translational research. You would be joining a research group at the leading edge of nutrition research working with Professor Andrew Swick, PhD (see Pubmed for publications). Applicant will conduct human studies utilizing whole room indirect calorimetry, as well as animal and in vitro experiments. Requirements include: 1) Ph.D. and/or MD, 2) experience and/or interest in performing human clinical studies, 3) research experience and training in either nutrition, physiology, medicine or a related field. Relevant experience in experimental design, statistical analyses, instrument troubleshooting, proficiency in English and presenting experimental results is desirable. Spacious new NUTRITION RESEARCH INSTITUTE (www.NRI.org) facilities include whole room calorimeter, metabolic carts, whole body DEXA scanner, BodPod, ultrasound, as well as facilities for animal and cell based research. The NRI is a component of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill but is located near Charlotte, North Carolina (in Kannapolis) USA. Salary commensurate with experience. Start September 1, 2010 or when available.
