Description:
We are currently looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow for a newly funded grant to investigate the role of parity, obesity and inflammation in two breast cancer mouse models. Our lab studies how cells under states of metabolic stress alter the progression of diseases such as obesity and cancer. We use cell culture, biochemical assays, mouse models, and genomic/metabolomic profiling to address questions regarding the complex links between mitochondrial/fuel metabolism and inflammation in immune cells such as the macrophage. Other ongoing projects are focused on characterizing the role of glucose and fatty acid metabolism and the inflammatory response in vitro and in vivo. Our lab is located in the Dept. of Nutrition in the Michael Hooker Research Center, a state of the art research building on the UNC Chapel Hill Medical Campus.
Requirements: Recent PhD with experience in mouse models of obesity and/or cancer necessary. Excellent communication skills with a successful record of publications necessary.
Start Date: ~Aug 1 2010.
