Description
The Leibniz Institute for Age Research – Fritz-Lipmann-Institute (FLI) in Jena, Germany has an opening for a Postdoc position (TV-L E13) in the group “Virus-induced oncogenesis”(http://www.fli-leibniz.de/groups/ploubidou.php) as part of the Leibniz Graduate School on Ageing and Age-Related Diseases (LGSA).
We are studying the molecular basis of cytoskeletal function and dysfunction, in virally induced malignant transformation and oncogenesis. The project aims to define and compare the cytoskeletal signalling pathways activated by the oncogenes of DNA viruses.
Understanding how these mechanisms are triggered is critical, both in the prevention of cancer and for the development of targeted therapeutic approaches. The project is part of a collaboration with the research group of Peter Herrlich “Cell Biology of Cancer”.
The FLI offers excellent working conditions with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The methods used in our work are based on cultured cells and the Xenopus oocyte extract systems, combined with immunofluorescence and laser-scanning confocal microscopy, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with strong interest in disease-relevant projects. Experience in high content screening (HCS) microscopy techniques or RNAi technology or TAP-based protein biochemistry systems would be advantageous.
