Description
A postdoctoral position is available for a motivated individual to conduct research in the area of maize developmental genetics and functional genomics. Research will involve generating and analyzing protein tagged lines in maize. Experience with imaging, cell biology and confocal microscopy essential. The individual will be expected to develop an independent research project and also contribute to the collaborative project to tag maize proteins for cellular compartmentation and functional genomic studies. Other responsibilities include manuscript preparation, supervision of junior lab personnel, oversight of pollinations in the greenhouse and field setting.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology or a related field of Biology.
Preferred qualifications: Cell biological experience preferred, particularly skill with confocal microscopy and image analysis. Experience working with DNA and RNA, including PCR, quantitative PCR, cloning and engineering, vector construction, sequence analysis, basic Southern, western and northern blots, two-hybrid screens, maize genetics. Applicants with experience in computational biology and statistics also preferred.
