The Faculty of Science and Technology consists of the following departments: Department of Physics and Technology, Department of Geology, Department of Computer Science, Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and Department of Engineering and Safety. The position is part of the project "Subsea sensors for oil and gas”, funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project is divided into 5 work packages. The position is organized under the Department of Engineering and Safety, which leads work package 2, "Ultrasound gas leak detection”.
Description

The proposed research project will focus on the experimental activities for active and passive acoustic and ultrasonic methods for subsea gas leak detection. We are thus seeking applicants with relevant experimental background, but also candidates with a strong knowledge within relevant numerical simulations and theory will be considered. A background in underwater acoustics, ultrasonic or related fields is required. The successful applicant must be able to immediately contribute scientifically in research planning, execution, and documentation in terms of scientific publications, within the project.
