A postdoctoral position to study the role of genetic modifiers on the phenotype of hemoglobinopathies with emphasis on sickle cell disease.
Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is immediately available to study the role of genetic modifiers on the phenotype of hemoglobinopathies with emphasis on sickle cell disease. Major research focus includes the identification of regulatory elements of several candidate genes (vascular, inflammation etc), detection of mutations and polymorphisms of these regulatory elements and correlations with phenotypes using informatic approaches. Major technologies include DNAse I sensitivity essays, analysis of gene expression using high throughput assays, and SNP identification. Experience in informatics is highly desirable.
