Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Melissa Starovasnik/ Protein NMR Group
Responsibilities:
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Protein NMR Group, in which our primary focus is to study the solution structures of proteins and protein/protein or protein/ligand complexes involved in modulating cell-signaling events of therapeutic interest. In addition, the group undertakes analysis of biologically active peptides and small molecules, with emphasis on determining their conformations and protein-binding properties. The protein NMR facility includes dedicated 800, 600, and 500 MHz spectrometers, SGI and Linux workstations, a fully equipped protein expression and purification lab, and access to the Central California 900 MHz spectrometer. Our NMR group complements protein engineering, protein crystallography and modeling efforts within the Protein Engineering Department.

Requirements:
PhD in Biochemistry/Structural Biology or related discipline, with evidence of productive, independent contributions in science, as demonstrated by a strong publication record. The applicant must be familiar with the principles and practice of protein NMR spectroscopy and protein structure determination, and have previous experience with protein expression and purification. The successful candidate must be motivated, capable of working independently, and enjoy working in a collaborative setting.
