Postdoctoral Fellowship in Preclinical Instrumentation Development and Preclinical Radiation Oncology

Job Description:

The division of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, MO, seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate in preclinical instrumentation development and imaging processing. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team that is developing a preclinical micro intensity modulated radiation therapy system to perform front line multidisciplinary research in translational radiation oncology. The position is expected to begin as soon as possible after August 30, 2007 (exact date to be arranged with the candidate) and is expected to be a two year appointment.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in medical physics, physics, electrical engineering, computer sciences, software engineering, or a close related area. Excellent lab skills, hands-on experience with complex equipment, and proficiency in programming with at least two of the following languages: C++ , LabView, Measurement Studio and LabWindows CVI . The candidate should have demonstrated experience in instrumentation development, computer interfacing with the “real world” and instrument design and construction. Experience in tomographic image reconstruction, and mechanical drawing is highly desirable. Ability to publish research results is expected.
