Our newly established group is interested in elucidating the genetic program controlling late maturation of cortical inhibitory function in the forebrain. In doing so we aim to decipher the cellular mechanisms behind the emergence of higher cognitive function during later stage of development/maturation of the nervous system. The proposed project entails using a combination of already established advanced mouse genetic strategies with slice, and possibly in vivo , electrophysiology as well molecular techniques to validate candidate genes. The project also encompasses development of relevant behavioural assays.
We are seeking a highly motivated person with a PhD in the neurosciences with at least one first (or shared first) authorship publication. Priority will be given to applicants proficient in slice electrophysiology and/or with a behavioural background.
The laboratory is situated in the division of Molecular Neurobiology at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB ) which is an extremely dynamic and vibrant scientific environment with state of the art equipment available (http://molneuro.mbb.ki.se/hjerling-leffler ).
The position is funded for two years and the candidate is expected to apply for independent funding during this period.
Please send applications, including CV, list of publications and statement of future interests to Jens Hjerling-Leffler
